Mycelium Design & Construction

For students in Professor CoCo Ree Lemery’s advanced design courses

What is mycelium?

Mycelium are the vegetative structures of fungi, made up of white or cream-colored long fibers called hyphae. Mycelium grows on organic matter and is asexual until joining with another mycelium. After joining, the two mycelia are capable of creating a fruiting body that produces a mushroom. Then, mycelium can continue to forage for nutrients and water to create biomass and grow. Mycelium extends the area in which a mushroom or fruiting body can acquire nutrients.

I’m partnering with GrowBio as a great place to start with your first mycelium experiments! I recommend using the GIY bags, but by using code COCOREELEMERY at checkout you can get 15% off your entire order.

From here, you can experiment with other decontaminated additives such as coffee, tea, sawdust, and more!
